Cardinals activate Molina and Robinson

ST. LOUIS -- Yadi's back.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Thursday that they have activated All-Star catcher Yadier Molina (right knee sprain) from the 15-day disabled list in time for this afternoon's game against Pittsburgh. Molina is the National League's second-ranked hitter at .330. His average includes a .383 mark with runners in scoring position.

The Cardinals made other roster moves as well. They activated outfielder Shane Robinson (right shoulder strain) from the 15-day DL, placed catcher Tony Cruz (stress fracture of left forearm) on the 15-day DL and optioned infielder Jermaine Curtis to Triple-A Memphis.

Robinson, who appeared in three games for Double-A Springfield during an injury rehabilitation assignment last week, was batting .263 in 65 games at the time of his injury.  Both Molina and Robinson were placed on the disabled list July 31.

Cruz started at catcher in 11 of the team’s 14 games during Molina’s absence and is batting .212 with one homer and 11 RBIs in 41 games this season.
