Bynum expected to play, start vs. Wizards

After a couple games off, Andrew Bynum is expected to rejoin the Cavaliers for Saturday’s game at the Wizards.

The 7-foot center has missed two games while attending a family medical matter. Bynum started for the first time in more than a year, and the first time ever for the Cavs, in Monday’s loss at the Bulls.

He compiled season-highs in points (11), rebounds (six) and minutes (21).

“I’m not rushing him back,” said Cavs coach Mike Brown. “What he’s doing is more important.”

Bynum, whose recovery from knee issues is ongoing, will likely start when he’s healthy enough to play. He played in six of the Cavs’ first eight games prior to leaving for his family situation.

“If he’s available, I’m gonna start him,” Brown said.

Bynum is averaging 6.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and a team-high 1.3 blocked shots per game. His last full season, which came under Brown with the Lakers, Bynum averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds and was named to the Western Conference All-Star team.
