Buttler & Roy tons launch England to 355-5 in 4th ODI

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Jos Buttler smashed the fastest one-day international century by an England batsman as Pakistan was left to chase 356 runs to win the fourth and final match and tie the series on Friday.

Buttler reached his 100 in just 46 balls - the seventh fastest in the history of the 50-over format - and surpassed his own previous England-best effort of a 61-ball ton against Sri Lanka at Lord's last year.

He finished unbeaten on 116 in 52 balls, with 10 fours and eight sixes, adding to the earlier good work by opener Jason Roy, who scored 102 in 117 balls at Dubai International Stadium.

Buttler came in at the fall of Roy's wicket, with England at 194-2 in the 36th over.

After starting cautiously and moving to 15 in 17 balls, his next 101 runs came in just 35 balls. He reached his century in the 49th over, when he lofted Azhar Ali for a six over mid-wicket.

Roy scored his maiden ODI century then was out immediately, chancing himself against legspinner Yasir Shah and holing out to Babar Azam in the deep.

Pakistan will have to script the third best run chase in ODI history to win.

Only two teams have done better; South Africa overtook Australia's 435 at the Wanderers in 2006, and India got the better of Australia, chasing 360 in Jaipur in 2013.
