Butler advances to Horizon title game

Shawn Vanzant scored 18 points and Butler advanced to the Horizon League championship by defeating Cleveland State 76-68 on Saturday night.

Shelvin Mack scored 15 points, Matt Howard scored 14 and Andrew Smith had 12 for the Bulldogs (22-9), the tournament's No. 2 seed. Butler will play the winner of Saturday's other semifinal game between Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Valparaiso for the league championship on Tuesday night.

Howard and Smith had eight rebounds each for Butler.

Norris Cole led all scorers with 24 points for Cleveland State (26-8). Trevon Harmon had 18 points for the third-seeded Vikings.
