Browns to induct Bob Golic into Legends program

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns will celebrate cherished alumni this weekend, highlighted by the induction of DT Don Colo (1953-1958) and DT Bob Golic (1982-1988) into the Cleveland Browns Legends program on Saturday, as well as a halftime ceremony during the team's Week 3 contest against the Raiders on Sunday.

The Browns will induct Colo and Golic into the Cleveland Browns Legends program during a luncheon in FirstEnergy Stadium's Kardiac Club on Saturday (11 a.m.-1 p.m.), alongside a strong contingent of former Browns coaches, players and staff.

Colo and Golic will be honored throughout Alumni Weekend (Friday-Sunday), with the events encompassing more than 60 Browns alumni and their families.

To begin the weekend, approximately 40 Browns alumni will reunite on Friday morning at Avon Oaks Country Club for the Fifth Annual Cleveland Browns Alumni Golf Outing.

Cleveland Browns Legends Class of 2015

DT Don Colo (1953-1958) -- Colo was a main cog in a defensive line that helped the Browns claim back-to-back championships in 1954-55. A graduate of Brown University, Cleveland acquired Colo in 1953 through a then-record 15-player trade with the Baltimore Colts, who originally selected him in the third round (28th overall) of the 1950 NFL Draft. Known for both his intelligence and toughness, Colo played in all 72 regular season games during his six years with the Browns, overpowering and shedding blockers against the run and using his strength and quickness to provide an inside pass rush. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Colo aided a Browns defensive unit that allowed the fewest points in the NFL in each of his first five seasons and ranked third in points allowed in 1958.

DT Bob Golic (1982-1988) -- A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Golic was an All-American at Notre Dame in both football and wrestling. He was originally drafted as a linebacker by the New England Patriots in the second round (52nd overall) of the 1979 NFL draft before the Browns claimed him off waivers in 1982. Golic transitioned to nose tackle with Cleveland, where he played in 97 career games and notched 14.0 sacks, including four in his first season with the team. The nose tackle also posted a 7-yard interception-return touchdown for the Browns, picking off Packers QB Lynn Dickey on Nov. 6, 1983. A three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Browns, Golic helped Cleveland reach the postseason in each of his final four seasons with the team.
