Browns QB Weeden growing in confidence

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Brandon Weeden's confidence has grown with every practice, every pass.
Cleveland's rocket-armed rookie quarterback says he has a solid grasp on the Browns' playbook and that he's getting into a better rhythm with his receivers. Weeden, who was named the Browns' starter before the first exhibition game, said Wednesday's practice was his best so far. Weeden fired touchdown passes during red-zone drills and showed more mobility in the pocket.
Weeden hopes to build on a strong performance last week (12 of 20, 135 yards) against Green Bay in Friday's preseason game against Philadelphia, the same team he'll be facing in the Sept. 9 season opener. Weeden is expected to play most of the first half against the Eagles. He said training camp has been more mentally challenging than he imagined.
