Browns promote LB Darius Eubanks from practice squad

BEREA -- The Cleveland Browns on Saturday promoted LB Darius Eubanks from their practice squad to the active roster. In addition, the club waived LB Brandon Magee.

Eubanks, a 6-2, 222-pound rookie from Georgia Southern, had spent the season's first seven-plus weeks on the Browns' practice squad, having signed Sept. 2. He initially entered the NFL as a non-drafted free agent, signed by Minnesota May 3, and spent the preseason with the Vikings before the club waived him Aug. 31. He will wear No. 50 with the Browns.

A four-year letterman at Georgia Southern, Eubanks started 51 of 52 career games. A first-team All-Southern Conference selection in 2012, he started 13 contests at safety and compiled 77 tackles.

The year before as a junior, he started all 14 games as a linebacker. Eubanks garnered Dean's list honors with a 3.57 GPA.

A product of Thomson (Ga.) High School, Eubanks on two occasions earned all-state recognition from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
