Broncos' LB steals some of Manning's thunder with season's first bonehead play
Up 42-17 with Peyton Manning smoking the Ravens defense on Thursday night, everything was going right for the Broncos in the fourth quarter. Then what you see above happened. Denver LB Danny Trevathan intercepted a Joe Flacco pass and had a clear path to the end zone — and a 32-point lead. But doing his best DeSean Jackson impersonation, Trevathan dropped the ball short of the end zone as part of a premature celebration. The ball rolled out of the end zone, the TD was called off, and the Ravens were awarded the ball at their own 20 on a touchback. And Flacco proceeded to lead them down the field and throw a 13-yard TD to Marlon Brown to turn a 32-point hole in an 18-point hole with 10:28 to play. Trevathan got lucky, because Manning threw his seventh TD pass of the game later to put any thoughts of the comeback out everyone's minds. So, what does Trevathan have to say for himself?
At least he's appropriately embarrassed for his all-too-public flub. Questions? Comments? Send them to lacesoutmail@gmail.com and we might respond in our weekly mailbag!
