Brewers try to keep up slugging ways at Padres' pitcher-friendly park

The Milwaukee Brewers have been flexing their muscles lately, but are about to play at tough park to keep up the slugging.

The Brewers have an extra-base hit in 44 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in the majors. Toronto is first with 68. Milwaukee is the only National League team in the top five.

Milwaukee's streak dates back to Aug. 9. In that span, the Brewers have 83 doubles, eight triples and 46 home runs.

Among the Brewers' most prodigious power hitters has been Khris Davis, who is leading the major leagues in home runs since Aug. 1.

However, Milwaukee will be playing in Petco Park for three games, not exactly a hitter's paradise. This season, opponents are batting just .242 at Petco Park with a .407 slugging percentage (compared to Padres pitchers .262 and .407 marks on the road). However, San Diego pitchers have allowed seven home runs at Petco over the last six games, including three in a loss to Arizona on Sunday.

Other notes:

-- Milwaukee has won three straight against the Padres and had double-digit hits in each vctori. The last time the Brewers had 10 or more hits in four consecutive games against San Diego was May 26-June 2, 2002.

-- San Diego is slugging .394 at Petco Park -- which is the best the team has ever done in the 12-year existence of the stadium. The Padres are batting .247 at home, which is their highest since 2005. Also, their 4.04 runs/game is the most since 2004.
