Brewers sign 16-year-old Dominican outfielder

The Milwaukee Brewers signed five players from Latin America on Tuesday, including 16-year-old Dominican outfielder Nicolas Pierre. 
Tuesday marked the first day of baseball's international signing period, and the Brewers didn't waste much time jumping on the market. 
Ranked as the 28th best international prospect by MLB.com and 20th overall by Baseball America, Pierre is 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds. MLB.com says Pierre has all the tools scouts are looking for, has proved he can hit in games, but will need to get stronger after signing with a big league team. 
A native of San Pedro de Marcoris in the Dominican Republic, Pierre Figueroa has played in the International Prospect League. According to Baseball America, he's trained with Nelson Montes de Oca. 
The Brewers also signed Panamanian catcher Johel Atencio, Dominican shortstop Henry Correa, Venezuelan right-hander Nelson Hernandez and Dominican shortstop Freddy Mallen. 
Also 16, Atencio is 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds whose righthanded bat is described by some scouts as his strongest asset. He trained with Emilio Sempris.
MLB.com ranked Mallen as the 22nd best international prospect. 
All players are 16-years-old and will report to Milwaukee's academy in San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic.
