Brewers shuffle relievers on opening-day roster
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers have selected the contracts of pitchers Blaine Boyer and Chris Capuano from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The moves announced Saturday night formally adds the veterans to the staff. Manager Craig Counsell said last week that Boyer and Capuano made the team out of spring training as relievers. Capuano gets a $1.5 million deal and Boyer $950,000.
Capuano, who is entering his second stint with the Brewers organization. He's the only left-hander on the opening-day roster with Will Smith on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee injury.
Among other moves Saturday night, right-handed reliever Corey Knebel was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique injury, retroactive to April 1. Knebel was expected to be one of the team's late-inning relievers.
Newcomer Carlos Torres joins the bullpen after signing with the team on Sunday.
