Brewers ink Conrad to minor-league deal

According to a report by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Brewers signed Brooks Conrad to a minor league contract Saturday, with an invitation to join the team in spring training.

Conrad, 31, will compete for a bench spot as a utility infielder. In four major league seasons, he's played at first, second and third base while compiling a .229 batting average with 14 home runs and 56 RBI. He began his career in 2008 with Oakland and spent the last three seasons with the Braves.

In 2011, Conrad hit .223 with 13 RBIs in 92 games with Atlanta.
