Brewers get prospect Coca from Red Sox to complete offseason trade
Six months after acquiring red-hot third baseman Travis Shaw and a player to be named later from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for relief pitcher Tyler Thornburg, the Milwaukee Brewers have finally announced who that player is.
The Brewers acquired 18-year-old infielder Yeison Coca from the Red Sox on Monday, adding a player who hit .308/.372/.408 in the Dominican Summer League last year, his first as a pro.
The move completes a deal that has worked out in the Brewers' favor early.
Shaw has been among the Brewers' best players this season, and is hitting .292/.339/.530 with 10 home runs in 202 at bats, while Thornburg has yet to pitch this season.
