Braves roster cuts include top prospects Peraza, Jenkins

The Atlanta Braves continue to cut down their spring training roster with Opening Day just three weeks away. The announced six additional cuts on Monday morning, including top prospects Jose Peraza and Tyrell Jenkins.

The remaining roster reassignments were pitchers Yean Carlos Gil, Brady Feigl, Mauricio Cabrera and catcher Jose Yepez.

Peraza, one of the top-rated position prospects in the organization, was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett after reportedly pushing for the parent club's second base spot in camp. He logged one single and one run in 16 spring training plate appearances.

Jenkins impressed throughout camp after coming over from the St. Louis Cardinals in the Jason Heyward deal, and was optioned to Double-A Mississippi. Jenkins logged a 4.50 ERA in four innings pitched this spring. 

Feigl, a left-hander who drew positive reviews from the coaching staff, was reportedly in the running for a bullpen spot. In four outings, he posted a 1.93 ERA. Cabrera, another highly regarded pitching prospect, will join Gil at Single-A Carolina.

The Braves' roster is down to 47 active players.
