Braves add depth to the bullpen

The Braves have purchased the contracts of minor league pitchers Juan Abreu and Erik Cordier and placed them on the 40-man roster.

Abreu was claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Royals last November. He pitched in 47 games out of the bullpen for High-A Myrtle Beach and Double-A Mississippi this past season. Abreu was 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA and had 12 saves. That ranked as the third most in the Atlanta farm system.

The 25-year old Abreu is a hard-thrower who could see time in the Atlanta bullpen next season. He
