Bracketology roundup: Marquette moves up with win over Creighton

Another win over Creighton has the Marquette University men's basketball team on track to make the NCAA tournament.

They'll get another shot at solidifying that spot Thursday, when the Golden Eagles take on Seton Hall in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament.

The nation's No. 55-ranked team based on RPI -- sandwiched in between No. 54 Northwestern and No. 56 California, the Golden Eagles are currently projected to claim a No. 10 seed.

FOX Sports' own Stewart Mandel has a slightly higher opinion of Marquette this week.

Mandel made the Golden Eagles a No. 8 seed in the West Region, dropping them in Salt Lake City alongside regional No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 16 North Dakota, while pitting Marquette against No. 9 Arkansas.

USA TODAY also has the Golden Eagles headed west as a No. 8 seed, pitting them against Virginia Tech for the right to face either No. 1 Oregon or No. 16 UC-Irvine.

NBC Sports sent Marquette to the South Region as a No. 9 seed, pitting them against Dayton opposite No. 1 North Carolina and either Jacksonville State or NC State.

Bracket Matrix has Marquette ranked as high as a No. 7 seed and as low as 11, but listed as a consensus No. 10 seed, and includes 110 brackets which feature the Golden Eagles.
