Boyd drives in 7; ASU win streak hits 17
TEMPE, Ariz. – Katelyn Boyd went 3 for 3 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored and seven RBI as Arizona State softball extended its winning streak to 17 with a 12-3 win over Creighton at gusty Farrington Stadium on Tuesday night. The fifth-ranked Sun Devils improved to 21-2 on the season.
Elizabeth Caporuscio and Haley Steele each had two hits and two runs scored for the Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils led 5-3 going into the bottom of the sixth before breaking the game open with a seven-run inning. Boyd's bases-loaded double drove in the final three runs and ended the game via the mercy rule.
Hillary Bach (9-0) was the winning pitcher for ASU in relief of Mackenzie Popescue.
The Sun Devils return to action Friday with a pair of games in the Diamond Devil Invitational, hosting Valparaiso and East Carolina.
