Boilermakers add Indy's top player, two big men on Signing Day
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue added two more post players and Indianapolis' top player in Wednesday's signing class.
The biggest name might be 6-foot-3 guard Eric Hunter Jr. He averaged 25.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while leading Tindley Prep to its first state title last season. He is the IndyStar's Preseason City Player of the Year.
But coach Matt Painter also added some big bodies with 6-11, 225-pound center Emmanuel Dowuona from Miami and 6-9, 270-pound forward Trevion Williams.
Dowuona averaged about 13 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks last season at Westwood Christian. The Ghana native has played basketball for only about four years after giving up soccer.
Williams averaged 22 points and 25 rebounds at Henry Ford Academy in Detroit last season.
