Blues recall AHL goalie; Allen's status still unknown

The St. Louis Blues have not shined any light on the apparent lower-body injury suffered by Jake Allen against the Ducks on Friday night, but the promotion of a goaltender from the Chicago Wolves indicates that at least in the short term, Allen is not available.

The Blues announced Saturday that the club had recalled Jordan Binnington from their American Hockey League affiliate.

Binnington, 22, has appeared in 17 games with the Wolves this season, posting an 8-6-2 record with a 2.57 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.

The 6-foot-1, 167-pound goaltender was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round (88th overall) of the 2011 Entry Draft and is currently in his second season in Chicago.

In 2014-15, the Richmond Hill, Ontario, native posted a 25-15-4 regular-season mark, including a 2.35 GAA, a .916 save percentage and three shutouts.  He also started all five of the Wolves' 2015 postseason games, tallying a 2-3 record along with a 2.16 GAA and a .938 save percentage. Binnington's 25 regular-season wins were the second most by a rookie goaltender in Wolves franchise history.
