Blues place Stastny on IR, recall Megan

ST. LOUIS -- The Blues will be without No. 1 center Paul Stastny for a while longer, though how much longer is uncertain. For now, he's on injured reserve.

The Blues announced the roster move Tuesday. Stastny missed St. Louis' game Saturday in Montreal, a 4-2 win, after suffering a lower-body injury in a 2-1 victory Feb. 9 in Toronto. Considered day-to-day since getting hurt, he could return to action after missing the Blues' next two games, Wednesday in Detroit and at home Thursday against Vancouver.

Already low on centers after Kyle Brodziak was placed on IR, the Blues recalled Wade Megan from the AHL's Chicago Wolves to replace Stastny.

Megan, 26, ranks second on the team and fourth in the AHL overall with 45 points, including a league-best 23 goals, in 50 games for the Wolves this season. Fans will recall Megan's NHL debut on Dec. 22, when he became the 16th player in Blues history to score a goal his in his first career game (at Tampa Bay).

Jori Lehtera and Patrik Berglund are, for now, the team's top centers. Ivan Barbashev was called up from the Wolves after Brodziak's injury and has been centering the fourth line.

Stastny, 31, is tied for fourth on the team with 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists) in 54 games this season.
