Blue Jackets cannon to be featured in EA Sports' 'NHL 16'
The Columbus Blue Jackets replica 1857 Napoleon field cannon that sits atop section 11 will make its video game debut in EA Sports' NHL 16. The cannon will be featured in NHL 16 when the latest installment of the franchise is released in the fall.
EA Sports said, "Building off last year's best-in-class Authentic Arenas, Distinct Team Arena Atmosphere in NHL 16 captures signature effects and props that are synonymous with arenas from around the league.
"The handcrafted Blue Jackets goal cannon makes its debut in NHL 16! When the puck goes into the visiting team's net, get ready to hear the BOOM as the cannon will go off followed by smoke exiting its full-scale barrel."
The Blue Jackets cannon became famous for the attention it got at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game. Numerous players complained as the All-Stars set a record for goals scored, leading to 12 cannon bursts.
Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo even tweeted midgame about the cannon, and numerous other players stated their annoyance afterward.

"No, I don't like that. I don't think anyone does," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty told Yahoo Sports. "It's not good when we come here. It scares me, still."
