Bledsoe to miss extended time with torn meniscus

Suns guard Bledsoe is expected to miss extended time with a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The team in Sunday night announced the extent of the injury after Bledsoe left Saturday's loss to the NBA-worst 76ers in the second quarter.

Bledsoe will undergo surgery on Tuesday, performed by team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tom Carter. Bledsoe could be out until after the All-star break, according to multiple reports.

Bledsoe, 26, was averaging 20.4 points, 6.1 assists and two steals per game.

Bledsoe was injured on a non-contact play in the 111-104 home loss. He was chasing Philadelphia guard Ish Smith off the ball when he swerved to avoid a screen by Robert Covington and collapsed to the floor. He was carried off the court and did not return.

Bledsoe had surgery on his left meniscus in the 2013-2014 season, an injury that forced him to miss 33 games.
