Bengals' McElroy retires from NFL

The Bengals added a quarterback Thursday in Jason Campbell and lost one Friday in Greg McElroy.

McElroy, a national championship winner at Alabama, played two games for the Jets in 2012 then spent last season on the practice squad for the Bengals.

The team signed Campbell this week to provide depth behind starter Andy Dalton.
