Beltre injures hamstring, leaves game

DETROIT (AP) -- Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre hurt his left hamstring and had to leave the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Detroit, although manager Ron Washington was optimistic the injury wasn't serious.

Beltre is expected to miss the rest of the weekend series because of a strained hamstring. He spent time on the disabled list last year with a left hamstring strain and was limited to 124 games in 2011. Washington said the injuries aren't comparable.

"Not close to last year," Washington said. "He said he just felt a pinch, and he wanted to stay in, but that wasn't happening. We'll get him checked out when we get home."

Beltre hit a second-inning double and was holding his left hamstring after pulling up at second. He was taken out with Texas already leading 8-0. The Rangers won 10-4.

Before leaving the game, Beltre had two hits in two innings as Texas pounded Detroit starter Rick Porcello.
