Behold Johnny Cueto's wonderfully awesome, adventurous third inning
Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto put on a show in the third inning of the team's opener vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday.
In the top half of the inning, Cueto notched a milestone on the mound, earning his 1,000th career strikeout (as well as Nos. 998 and 999).
But that alone wasn't enough for Cueto.
In the bottom half, he drew a walk from Pirates starter Francisco Liriano - and took his sweet time getting to first base.
Billy Hamilton followed with a sharply hit grounder to third baseman Josh Harrison, who threw to second base for an easy force play. Cueto made it no further than halfway to second base, as Hamilton rocketed to first to avoid a double play.
"Johnny Beisbol" picked up right where he left off from his 20-win 2014, pitching seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and one walk, and recording an Opening Day personal career-high 10 strikeouts.
