Behind the scenes with NYCFC's Patrick Vieira and Chicago Fire's Veljko Paunovic

Patrick Vieira took over as the New York City FC manager in the winter to great fanfare. Such is the nature of one of the best players of a generation getting his first senior team managerial job.

Veljko Paunovic was in the same boat as Vieira, minus the global superstar player part. But he too was taking over an MLS club -- the Chicago Fire -- this season in his first senior team job.

The two managers met in the opening week of the season, with NYCFC coming out on top, and now they meet again. This time the match is in New York (Sunday, 7 p.m. ET on FS1 and FSGO) and both teams are feeling a lot better than they did before the season.

Four matches into the season, NYCFC and the Fire both have a win and a pair of draws, putting them in playoff spots. It's still supremely early so looking at playoff spots now means little, but there's no doubt that both are doing better than most expected of them. Vieira and Paunovic are off to strong starts, and both NYCFC and the Fire look like they may have made the right moves when they took chances on young, inexperienced managers.
