Bearcats land Gunner Kiel
Citing his relationship with quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw, former Notre Dame quarterback Gunner Kiel has stated he will transfer to Cincinnati, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.
In a great sign for the Tuberville era, Kiel selected the Bearcats over a number of MAC schools, Kansas State, and others.
Kiel transferred due to the starting QB job at Notre Dame being taken over by Everett Golson, a redshirt freshman whose presence could keep Kiel from starting during his Fighting Irish career.
The door is certainly open for Kiel at Cincinnati. The team's two leading quarterbacks, Brendon Kay and Munchie Legaux, are both seniors, leaving the Kiel with a good shot at the starting job during his last two years at school.
Prior to his truncated career at Notre Dame, Kiel was the quarterback at Columbus (Indiana) East High School, where he was considered the top quarterback recruit in the nation by Scout.com.
