Baylor coach Briles has confidence in new QB
DALLAS -- When Baylor showed up at Big 12 media days last year quarterback Bryce Petty had cameras following him everywhere as one of the early favorites for the Heisman Trophy.
Petty's replacement Seth Russell wasn't part of the caravan Tuesday but head coach Art Briles has plenty of confidence in the junior from Garland, even if he isn't quite sure what to expect yet.
"I felt like I knew Bryce just a little bit better, what his abilities were, how his mind worked, and how he would perform," Briles said. "With Seth it's still kind of a process where we're still trying to fill out exactly how to coach him, what motivates him, what his strengths are and what it takes to make him be successful. He's a guy that I really respect his work ethic, his attitude. The thing we've got to do is make sure he doesn't feel like he's got too much pressure to perform. He's just got to be good. He doesn't have to be great."
Russell played in eight games for the Bears last season and started once for Petty when he was hurt. He threw for 804 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 185 yards.
