Baseball execs vote Brantley to All-Star squad
This is the first time Brantley is on the squad, which is voted on by baseball executives. This year's voting took place on or around Sept. 18.
Brantley is the first player in franchise history to have 200 hits, 45-plus doubles, 20-plus homers and 20-plus stolen bases (23) in the same season. The last player to do that in the Majors was Jacoby Ellsbury with Boston in 2011.
En route to finishing third in the American League with a .320 batting average, Brantley also had 12 outfield assists, which was tied for fourth in the league. Also in the outfield on the team are the Angels' Mike Trout and Blue Jays' Jose Bautista.
Brantley is the first Indians' player selected to the team since Asdrubal Cabrera three years ago and the first outfielder since Grady Sizemore in 2007.
The team included only one starting pitcher, which was Seattle's Felix Hernandez. Corey Kluber did receive votes.
