Badgers-LSU pregame notes

Here are some notes, tidbits and stats heading for Saturday's game between the Wisconsin Badgers and LSU Tigers at Lambeau Field:

-- This is the 4th meeting between Wisconsin and LSU. The Tigers leads the series 3-0.

--LSU has won 52 consecutive regular-season games against nonconference opponents, which is an FBS record. The Tigers' last loss was in 2002 to Virginia Tech.

--This will be the 23rd time since 1946 that Wisconsin has opened the season against a nonconference Power 5 team. The Badgers are 10-11-1 in the previous 21 games.

-- The Badgers haven't played a game in Wisconsin outside of Madison since beating Notre Dame 21-0 in Milwaukee on Oct. 14, 1905.

-- Wisconsin has lost back-to-back season openers after winning its previous 16 from 1998-2013. Both losses are against SEC teams (LSU, Alabama).

-- Under Paul Chryst last season, Wisconsin was 7-1 when scoring first, 3-2 when the opponent scores first, 6-1 when leading after the first quarter, 1-2 when trailing after the first quarter, 9-0 when leading at halftime, 1-3 when trailing at halftime, 9-0 when leading after the third quarter and 1-3 when trailing after the third quarter.

-- A Badgers tight end hasn't had a 100-yard receiving game since Lance Kendricks did it in back-to-back weeks in 2010 vs. Arizona State on Sept. 18 and Austin Peay on Sept. 25, a 77-game drought.

-- Wisconsin has had nine 100-yd rushers vs. SEC teams. Twice in a regular-season game, both times vs. LSU (Melvin Gordon, 2014; Alan Thompson, 1971).

-- Wisconsin has had four 200-yard passers vs. SEC teams: Joel Stave last year, John Stocco twice and Mike Howard.(Two wins, both Stocco games.)

-- Only one Badgers wide receiver has ever had a 100-yard receiving game vs. an SEC team: Brandon WIlliams against Auburn in 2006 Cap One Bowl

-- Wisconsin is 8-0 when Corey Clement rushes for 100+ yards.

-- Clement needs 51 rushing yards to pass Brooks Bollinger for 18th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Vince Biegel needs .5 tackles for loss to tie and 1 to pass Gary Casper for 14th place, 2 to tie Joe Schobert for 13th place and 3 to tie J.J. Watt for 12th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Biegel needs .5 sacks to tie and 1 to pass Erasmus James for 7th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Sojourn Shelton needs 1 pass breakup to tie Steve Wagner and Troy Vincent for 10th place and 2 to tie and 4 to pass Niles Brinkley for 9th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Shelton needs 1 pass defensed to pass Lamarr White for 13th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Rafael Gaglianone needs four field goals to tie and five to pass Mike Allen for fifth place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs two field-goal attempts to tie and three to pass John Hall for sixth place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs 1 extra point to pass John Hall for 4th place on UW's all-time list.

-- Gaglianone needs 2 extra-point attempts to tie and 3 to pass Mike Allen for 5th place and 4 to tie and 5 to pass John Hall for 4th place on UW's all-time list.
