Badgers allow three third-period goals, fall 4-1 to Gophers

Wisconsin allowed three third-period goals to the Minnesota Gophers, falling 4-1 in its regular-season finale at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.

Luke Kunin gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead in the first period and goaltender Matt Jurusik made 34 saves, but the Gophers rallied with four straight goals.

Minnesota (19-16-0, 14-6-0-0 Big Ten) clinched its third straight Big Ten regular-season title with the win.

Kunin scored 7:48 into the first period for the Badgers (8-18-8, 3-13-4-2 Big Ten), who were coming off a 4-3 win over Minnesota on Friday. Minnesota tied the game on a Leon Bristedt goal early in the second. Hudson Fasching, Jutin Kloos and Bristedt added third-period goals.

The Badgers finished the season sixth in the Big Ten standings. They will face Penn State in the conference tournament quarterfinals next weekend in St. Paul, Minn.
