Babcock: Zero chance Datsyuk will leave
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock tried to limit the speculation on star center Pavel Datsyuk's future, when Babcock told reporters in Chicago on Wednesday that there's "zero" chance the Magic Man will leave Detroit and return home to play in Russia.
Datsyuk has one year remaining on a seven-year, $46.9 million contract. He could be an unrestricted free agent during the summer of 2014.
There have been rumors he might opt to join the Kontinental Hockey League in his native country, where he played during the lockout.
The Wings, however, apparently plan to lock up Datsyuk with a contract extension this coming offseason.
"We'll get it done in the summer," Babcock said.
