Aztecs men's basketball joins Jordan Brand
SAN DIEGO-- On Monday, an announcement was made that the San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball program had reached an agreement with the Jordan Brand.
With the agreement, the men's hoops team will wear the latest footwear and on-court apparel (uniforms, practice gear, and travel attire) from the iconic brand starting in the 2018-19 season.
The deal is a historic one. The Aztecs become the only program on the West Coast to be in the Jordan lineup. They join seven others across the country: Florida, Georgetown, Houston, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Michigan, and Marquette.
Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, who played on the Mesa from 2009-2011 and was part of the team's 2011 run to the Sweet 16, exclusively reps the Jumpman logo. He was perhaps one of the many reasons as to why the partnership came to be.
The Aztecs apparel will continue to don their traditional red and black colors next season with a bit of Jordan flair. They are hoping the partnership will help with recruiting as they continue to cement their program among the West Coast's elite.
Last season, San Diego State won their 11th Mountain West Conference title. Starters Jalen McDaniels, Matt Mitchell, and Devin Watson are expected to return for 2018-19.
