Augustus, Moore, Whalen honored by WNBA

MINNEAPOLIS – The WNBA announced Wednesday that Minnesota Lynx shooting guard Seimone Augustus was named to the 2012 All-WNBA first team. Forward Maya Moore and point guard Lindsay Whalen were named to the All-WNBA second team.

Augustus, who finished the season averaging 16.6 points per game, had never before been named to the All-WNBA first team. She was voted to the second team in 2006, 2007 and 2011. Whalen led the league in assists this season, averaging 5.4 per game, and this is her first time on the second team. She was voted to the first team in 2008 and 2011. It is also Moore's first time on the second team; she won the Rookie of the Year award last season.

The rest of the first team comprises Los Angeles' Candace Parker, Indiana's Tamika Catchings, Connecticut's Tina Charles and New York's Cappie Pondexter. San Antonio's Sophia Young, Chicago's Sylvia Fowles and Los Angeles' Kristi Toliver round out the All-WNBA second team. No team boasts as many honorees as the Lynx.
