Athletes react to tragedy in Boston

Two explosions rocked the Boston Marathon on Monday, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragedy.. What follows is a roundup of athletes who took to Twitter — and other means — to express emotion over the tragedy ... and for some, offer help.

While many athletes and former athletes expressed thoughts, prayers, concerns on Twitter, one former Patriot offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi offered a more direct kind of help:

 

 

Andruzzi was particularly connected to 9/11, as well, as three of his brothers were New York firefighters and the time of those attacks. All of them survived.

Phillies pitcher Ben Revere put Boston in his prayers — and on his glove — prior to Monday's game against the Reds in Cincinnati:

Then Revere used the glove to make one of the young season's best catches:

And Revere wasn't alone in such tributes:

The Boston Bruins were schedule to have a home game against the Ottawa Senators. However, that game has been postponed.

Note: ESPN/SEC have postponed tomorrow's news conference in Atlanta in light of the Boston tragedy
