ASU lands three-star juco defensive lineman

Arizona State's defensive line got a big boost earlier this offseason when All-American Will Sutton announced he'd return for his senior season, and it got another on Friday with the commitment of junior-college defensive lineman Marcus Hardison.

Hardison, a product of Dodge City (Kan.) Community College, announced via Twitter on Friday that he had selected ASU over Kansas State, South Florida and West Virginia.

Scout.com ranks Hardison a three-star prospect.

"I just liked everything about them," Hardison told Scout affiliate DevilsDigest.com. "I could tell that they wanted me a lot, and my relationship with them was just a little better than the other schools."

Hardison, listed at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, also told DevilsDigest.com he was excited about Sutton's decision to return next season. Hardison will join a defensive line that also includes sophomore-to-be defensive tackle Jaxon Hood and seniors-to-be Davon Coleman and Junior Onyeali.

ASU also has 2013 commitments from three-star defensive ends Demetrius Cherry and Jack Powers and two-star defensive ends Garrett Marino and Nick Begg. Three-star defensive lineman Kisima Jagne, who graduated from Chandler last year and originally committed to Colorado, has already enrolled at ASU and will join the team for spring practice.

According to recruiting services, ASU also got a big tight end/H-back commitment Thursday night when De'Marieya Nelson of San Joaquin (Calif.) Delta College pledged to join the Sun Devils next season.

No college commitments can be made official until National Signing Day on February 6.
