Astros' new closer could be Will Harris if A.J. Hinch's fantasy tip is legit

The Astros Will Harris was drafted in the ninth round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft by the Colorado Rockies. After spending seven years working his way through the organization’s farm system, he earned his first cup of coffee in 2012 and finished with an 8.15 ERA in 20 appearances.

Fast forward to June 2016 and the 31-year-old Harris is now flirting to become the Astros new closer. If you think back to the winter hot stove, the way Houston has approached filling this role has been a little bit of a head scratcher. On the heels of a 31-save season in 2015, Luke Gregerson appeared prime for a demotion after the Astros dealt two top prospects, Vincent Velasquez and Mark Appel, to the Phillies for their closer Ken Giles. Most fantasy pundits were surprised to learn Gregerson would remain the team’s closer to start the season despite the acquisition of Giles. Well, two months into the season, Gregerson and Giles are struggling - with seven blown saves between the two of them - and Harris has a couple saves over the past week leading media to press manager A.J. Hinch on the topic today:

As vague as the skipper was, if you’re a fantasy owner chasing saves, Harris is owned in less than 10 percent of leagues and owns an ERA and WHIP both south of 1.00. He finished 5-5 with a sub-2.00 ERA and sub-1.00 WHIP in 68 games last season.
