Archer runs blazing 40, just misses Combine record

Former Kent State star Dri Archer is fast.

Very, very fast. Just not the fastest man ever to run a 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Running Sunday inside Lucas Oil Stadium twice, Archer posted unofficial times of 4.27 and 4.29, and NFL Network later shared his official time at 4.26, .02 off the event record set by Chris Johnson in 2008.

Through two days, he's the fastest participant in this year's combine.

The combine continues through Tuesday, with defensive linemen and linebackers working out Monday morning and defensive backs running and working out on Tuesday.

Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde posted an unofficial 4.62 on his 40-yard dash try. It was announced that Hyde had a hamstring strain and he did not run again.
