Alomar, rest of Indians coaching staff, likely remaining intact in 2015
CLEVELAND - Unofficially it appears as if the Indians coaching staff will remain intact for 2015.
Darren Wolfson of WTSP TV in the Twin Cities is reporting that Sandy Alomar is out of the running for the Twins managerial opening. Alomar interviewed a couple weeks ago in Minnesota and also interviewed for the Arizona opening that went to Chip Hale.
Paul Molitor and Doug Mientkiewicz, who are already in the Twins organization, appear to the front runners to replace Ron Gardenhire.
Alomar has been on the Indians staff the past five years, serving as first-base coach for three (2010-11, '14) and bench coach for two (2012-13). He was also the interim manager after Manny Acta was fired in 2012, going 3-3 in the final six games.
The Twins were the sixth team that Alomar has interviewed with for a manager's spot. He interviewed with Toronto following the 2010 season along with the Cubs and Boston after 2011. Alomar also had an interview with the Indians before Terry Francona was hired.
Bullpen coach Kevin Cash was a finalist in Texas before Jeff Banister was hired.
During the Indians end of season press conference, Francona indicated it was his desire to have everyone back but that he would let the interviewing process with other teams play out.
