All Blacks' Sonny Bill Williams sent off in 2nd Lions test
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) Center Sonny Bill Williams became the first All Black to be sent off in a rugby test since 1967 when was shown a red card for a shoulder charge in the 25th minute of Saturday's second test against the British and Irish Lions.
Rugby league convert Williams was dismissed almost 50 years to the day since Colin Meads was sent off in a test against Scotland at Edinburgh.
He hurled himself recklessly into a no-arms tackle on Watson, who was already held by another tackler, and his shoulder made contact with the England winger's head.
Referee Jerome Garces of France consulted his assistants and the television match official before ordering Williams from the field, leaving New Zealand to play for 65 minutes with 14 men.
