Alex Smith survived a meeting against his former team

By Sid Saraf, FOXSports.com Alex Smith hasn't been out of San Francisco for that long, but he already got a chance to meet up with his old chums. The Chiefs new QB faced the 49ers in a preseason game on Friday. And the going got rough real quick. I guess it's much easier when you're leading the San Fran offense, rather than going against its defense. The 49ers sacked Smith three times and held him to just 62 yards on 7 of 16 passing. He did lead a scoring drive, which ended with a Ryan Succop field goal. It's not like his backups did any better, as Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray didn't do much under center. It should be noted that Colin Kaepernick, the man who took Smith's starting job in San Francisco, played just one series. He completed 1 of 2 passes for -3 yards. So, how did the personal reunions go?

Sounds like things went swimmingly, as we hoped they would. We here at Laces Out wish Alex Smith the best this season and he gets a chance to lead a team without someone over his shoulder. Questions? Comments? Send them to lacesoutmail@gmail.com and we might respond in our weekly mailbag!
