Albert Pujols passes Frank Robinson on all-time HR list (VIDEO)
The ninth spot on the all-time home run list belongs to Albert Pujols and Pujols alone. The Angels first baseman passed Hall of Famer Frank Robinson with his 587th home run on Saturday against the Mariners.
After Angels leadoff hitter Yunel Escobar was plunked by Mariners starting pitcher Taijun Walker with the first pitch of the game, the Halos went on a home run spree. Kole Calhoun, then Mike Trout homered in front of Pujols to give the Angels a 3-0 lead. Pujols kept the homer train going with a colossal blast to left center capping off back-to-back-to-back home runs during a six-run first inning.
Pujols is now all alone at ninth on the all-time list and a mere 12 home runs shy from the mythical 600 home run mark.
Oh, did I say 12? Yes, my math is correct. As an encore, Pujols homered in his second at bat of the game.
