Albert Pujols moves to 9th on all-time HR list with 586th homer

Albert Pujols' rewriting of the baseball record books continued on Monday. The Angels slugger clubbed his 586th career home run in the bottom of the first inning against the Cincinnati Reds.

Down a pair of runs to begin their half of the inning, Mike Trout's home run to center field brought in Kole Calhoun to level the game. With fans just finding their seats after the Trout's bomb, Pujols laced a belt-high pitch over the left field wall to bring the stadium back to its feet.

The 586th home run of Pujols' career moves him into a tie with Hall of Famer Frank Robinson at No. 9 on the all-time home run list. Robinson, one-time Angel towards the end of his career, was known for his stellar stints with the Reds and Baltimore Orioles and as the only MLB player ever to win MVPs in both the National and American leagues.

Former Cubs great Sammy Sosa is the next in Pujols' sights with 609 career dingers.
