AL Wild Card watch - Rays 3B Evan Longoria scratched from lineup
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Tampa Bay Rays slugger Evan Longoria has been scratched from the starting lineup due to flu-like symptoms.
The team announced the news about 40 minutes before the start of Sunday's game against Baltimore. Kelly Johnson replaced Longoria at third base.
Longoria is hitting .263 with 29 homers and 77 RBIs in 151 games this season.
The Rays recalled pitcher Enny Romero from Triple-A Durham to make his major league debut Sunday against the Orioles.
