Aggies trounce Grand Canyon, clinch WAC title

PHOENIX -- Remi Barry scored 18 points and New Mexico State clinched the Western Athletic Conference title by beating Grand Canyon 72-55 on Saturday night.

Daniel Mullings had 16 points and five assists for New Mexico State (19-10, 11-1 Western Athletic Conference), which has won nine in a row and 14 of its last 15. Pascal Siakam added 13 points and eight rebounds while Ian Baker scored 10.

Grand Canyon (16-12, 7-4) led 16-6 but New Mexico State scored 24 of the next 28 to open up a 10-point lead with two minutes left in the first half. The Antelopes trailed by at least eight the rest of the way.

The Aggies, which have won 28-straight home games in conference play, made 27 of 49 (55 percent) field goals, outrebounded Grand Canyon 34-19 and converted 11 offensive rebounds into 19 second-chance points.

Royce Woolridge led Grand Canyon with 20 points.
