Agent: Vikings sign offensive lineman Hill

With injuries depleting their offensive line, the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday signed tackle Rashod Hill off Jacksonville's practice squad. Hill's agent tweeted the news earlier in the day with the team making it official later in the afternoon.

The Vikings’ line took another hit Sunday, when midseason signing Jake Long was carted off with an Achilles injury. Long was placed on injured reserve to make room for Hill on the active roster.

The 6-foot-6, 309-pound Hill signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent this year. He was signed to the team's practice squad before the start of the season and was activated for Jacksonville's game against Baltimore, where he made his NFL debut.

Hill was cut and signed back to the practice squad following the Ravens game. Jacksonville opted to sign veteran lineman Bryce Harris rather than bring Hill back up to the 53-man roster after tackle Luke Joeckel was placed on injured reserve Oct. 4.

Hill was a three-year starter at Southern Mississippi, playing 45 games in total in his four years. Hill began as a right tackle then moved over to the left side as a junior and senior, making 26 consecutive starts. Hill was a second-team All-Conference USA selection as a senior.
