Abdelkader possibly out, Ferraro in for Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings certainly don't have the luck of the Irish in terms of injuries this season.
Todd Bertuzzi missed Sunday night's game in Chicago with a lower-body injury, and the Wings had to recall Jordin Tootoo from Grand Rapids to take his place in the lineup.
Now the Wings have recalled 22-year-old Landon Ferraro from Grand Rapids, also on an emergency basis, because Justin Abdelkader suffered a lower-body injury against Chicago.
Abdelkader didn't play the final six minutes against the Blackhawks.
The Wings will determine whether Abdelkader can play Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs after the morning skate.
Ferraro, son of longtime NHL player Ray Ferraro, has 13 goals and 28 points in 60 games with the Griffins this season.
If Ferraro plays Tuesday for the Wings, it will be his NHL debut.
