35 predictions for Oklahoma vs. Tulsa
The Sooners looked good a week ago in the season-opening win over Louisiana Tech.
The predictions? Pretty blah, actually. Just average. Real average.
Let's see if we can do better this time around. Here are 35 picks for the Oklahoma game Saturday morning at Tulsa.
1. This is the game Trevor Knight gets loose and throws for 300-plus yards. 2. By the end of the third quarter.
3. By the way, this will not be a road game for the Sooners. You'll see and hear plenty of OU fans in Tulsa.
4. Tulsa Union High grad Jeffery Mead makes his first catch of the season for OU and 5. Blake Bell catches his first touchdown pass.
6. Sooner coach Bob Stoops will congratulate Tulsa coach and long-time Oklahoma high school coach Bill Blankenship during his post-game meeting with the media.
Keith Ford and Sterling Shepard each had four catches a week ago. 7. Ford won't lead the team in catches this week, but 8. Sterling Shepard will. 9. Shepard will have seven or more catches.
10. Keith Ford will have more carries than Samaje Perine. 11. And run for more than 99 yards.
12. The Sooners will have at last one interception, but 13. none of the Sooner interceptions will come from a player from a Tulsa high school.
14. You'll wonder what ever happened to Sooner hero Trey DiCarlo, the guy responsible for the only points in the first half back in 2002. His first-quarter field goal gave OU all the points it would need in the 37-0 victory.
15. You'll also wonder what ever happened to DeMarco Murray. Murrayhad fewer carries and yards than both Allen Patrick and Chris Brown the last time OU played in Tulsa, back in 2007. Murray scored twice and Allen rushed for 145 yards and two scores in the 62-21 Sooner win.
A year ago, you thought Blake Bell would win the Heisman after passing for 413 yards against Tulsa. 16. At no point Saturday will you want Bell to be the starting quarterback.
17. You will check to see how Tennessee is doing at least twice.
18. OU will not allow 100 yards rushing for the second-consecutive week. 19. And will have three or more sacks after only having two a week ago.
20. Jordan Evans will not be ejected for targeting. 21. And lead the team in tackles – 22. with 10 or more. 23. Caleb Gastelum will play, too.
24. Tulsa will have less than 250 total yards. 25. And fumble it three or more times.
26. OU will return a kickoff or a punt back for a touchdown. 27. And have its first defensive touchdown of the season.
28. The Sooners will score 50-plus points.
29. The best Tulsa-area player Saturday will be OU linebacker Dominique Alexander.
The last time the Sooners had two receivers go for more than 100 yards in a game was last season against Tulsa. 30. It won't happen Saturday. 31. But two will have more than 75 yards.
32. You'll see Jed Barnett at least three times.
33. Tulsa scores fewer than 20 points.
34. OU moves to 2-0. 35. And wins by more than 25 points.
