USA wins first Olympic fencing team foil medal in 84 years
The American men's foil fencing team made history with their bronze medal victory over Italy at the Rio Olympics on Friday, winning the United States' first Olympic medal in the event since 1932.
Russia rallied from five points down to capture its third fencing gold medal in the team foil event, while France claimed the silver.
But it was the Americans who really savored the victory, especially after just missing out on the podium four years earlier.
"For the first time, the U.S.A. is a powerhouse in fencing. It never has been before," substitute Race Imboden said, via the Associated Press. "For us to come together and have each other's backs, it just proves that it's not a fluke anymore."
