Stolen Olympic torch sold; man charged
A North Carolina man is facing criminal charges, accused of selling a stolen Olympic torch at a pawnshop.
Brian Edward McDonald, 43, is accused of stealing the torch used in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta from another man, the Asheville (NC) Citizen-Times reported.
According to court records, he sold the torch — valued at $15,000 — to an Asheville pawnshop for $200.
McDonald was arrested and charged with felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretense. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
